Cardiac Screening

Cardiac Screening

Heart disease and stroke accounts for 36% of all deaths in Ireland annually and is a major cause of disability
People will experience no symptoms as it develops and it is usually quite advanced before a person will feel unwell
80% of Heart Disease is preventable by controlling blood pressure and cholesterol and smoking

Blood pressure monitoring

There is strong evidence to support the fact that maintaining a healthy blood pressure significantly reduces the risk of a heart attack or stroke
We can offer on the spot measurement of blood pressure
The gold standard measurement for blood pressure is a 24 hour monitor. This is a device that is worn for 24 hours as a person goes about their daily life. It will provide a healthcare professional with detailed data of changes in a person’s blood pressure over a normal day

It is recommended that all males over the age of 35 and females over the age of 45 have annual fasting checks of their cholesterol
